How will you be remembered? 2 ways...
What is your "opinion" of that question? I say the word opinon for 2 reasons:1. Some have themselves in a place of too high esteem. 2. Some are incredibly humble and never realize the impact they have had on others.
All this week, I have had the privilege of being bedside in the ICU with Dr. Ray H. Hughes. This gentlemen has held virtually every title in the pentecostal faith, from President of University, President of Seminary, Gen. Overseer of Denomination and the list goes on. Many have called him: "the greatest pentecostal preacher of all time." visit: www.rayhhughes.com for bio, pictures, etc.
I am very aware of his earthly accolades, but I know him as Uncle Ray. Most remember him as being one of the first to preach at the Hollywood Bowl in L.A. to tens of thousands. He has led crusades and preached to multiplied millions world wide, but my memories include our times together on the golf course and in the boat, pulling in large mouth bass.
As Uncle Ray has given instructions for his passing, I have noted how much he wanted 2 things: 1. "Don't make it about me. Make it about Jesus. Celebrate God's goodness." 2. Make it attractive to any unbelievers that attend. Let's see salvations occur.
May we all seek to glorify God in the end, not ourselves. Last night at 11:50 P.M., Ray heard "Well done, my good and faithful servant." That is how Ray wants to be remembered. Will we hear, "well done, thou good and faithful servant?"
